Going through adventure activities one improves his /her analytical skill, sharpens his/her decision making process and learns creative thinking. These needs of strong contrasts becomes compulsive in the frame work of adventures.  

Competitive urge which lies his physical and mental limits comes from ego - A desire to achieve. Thus the lure of adventure is a concept and not hypocrisy. Since most of us already have an inner urge within us of doing difficult things it is well concealed mysteriously in the complexity of human being.
